At the end of the 7 day period the EURO develops a significant snowstorm for parts of the upper Midwest. This is very preliminary and amounts should not be focused on at this time. In this hazardous weather outlook, the purpose is to highlight a region and time when disruptive weather is possible.
Here's what the EURO depicts for snowfall around October 29th or 30th. Parts of Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota, and NW Wisconsin are currently within the region of focus for snow. Most likely these amounts are highly inflated but even half of what is shown would be quite an event for October.
The warm sector has the potential of seeing some decent rain totals. The 72 hour precipitation amounts look this way on the EURO. Whether its rain or snow this could have a negative impact on the on-going harvest in parts of the Midwest.
The GFS does not even sniff this system yet so this is far from a sure thing. However, the mean pattern is favorable in the 7 day time frame for a strong storm if the proper phasing occurs. One thing that seems to be a sure bet is that very chilly air will be in the Midwest for Halloween and trick or treating.
Again, this is just an early heads up that there is the potential for a disruptive weather event somewhere in the Midwest during the day 6-7 period. Confidence on details today is low.
