This morning the NWS in Duluth, Minnesota saw a plume on radar that appeared to be a fire. They tracked down the location to the Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge. Upon contacting officials there it turned out they were doing a waterfowl survey and they estimated 600,000 ducks were in the air. No fire, just a bunch of ducks! Here's what they looked like on the highly sensitive Doppler radar.
When the ducks are on the run the cold air is on the move and we'll get a nice taste of it early next week into late October.
