STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS LIKELY...
A strong cold front will bring the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms to my area late Thursday afternoon and evening. Rich moisture and a highly unstable atmosphere means some of the storms are likely to reach severe limits. While the primary risk is high winds in bowing segments, the flow is backed enough for a small tornado risk in NE Iowa, SE Minnesota, SW Wisconsin, and extreme NW Illinois. Here's some helpful graphics regarding the potential and timing from the NWS in Des Moines.
If you are in the risk area be advised that strong thunderstorms are likely late this afternoon or early this evening. The storms will spread from west to east in my area beginning around 4pm on the west to around 8pm in the far east. By 10 pm the majority of the storms will have departed. Stay tuned and roll weather....TS
