A WET START TO THE WEEK, RAIN ARRIVES BY MORNING...

A seasonally strong fall storm will bring showers and possibly a few thunderstorms to the area late tonight and early Monday. Moisture is rapidly advancing northward this evening and showers and storms are breaking out to the west.

A strong period of forcing associated with a cold front will intercept the moisture after midnight bringing rain into the area. Models have become more aggressive with regards to amounts the past couple of days. Models are consistent though in showing the heaviest rains west of the Mississippi. Northeast Iowa, Minnesota, and NW Wisconsin could see amounts in excess of an inch. further east, the range should be 1/4 to 3/4 of an inch, the lighter totals further east in Illinois. The rains should end later in the morning Monday and then be followed by windy and colder conditions Monday night and Tuesday. For many the umbrella could come in handy at some time early Monday. Could be damp at the bus stop too!
