A COLD WEEK AHEAD WITH A DUSTING OF SNOW...

November 4, 2019

Another cold front is plunging through the Midwest setting the stage for what will be a very fresh 7 days of weather. These are the temperature departures forecast by the GFS for the next week. The 7 day average for my area is 13 to 18 below normal (per day).

Next Monday and Tuesday (November 11-12th) look especially cold with some readings as cold as 34 degrees below normal.

With all the cold air around there are going to be some snow chances, especially Tuesday night. At this point the far north is where accumulations are expected. This is the clipper to keep and eye on. As it passes Tuesday night it should lay down a 1-4" swath of snow near and north of HWY 20. Behind it, some additional snow showers are possible Wednesday night with a much weaker disturbance. Any amounts appear minimal, less than an inch but the flakes will be seen further south. Between the 2 systems this is what the EURO has for snowfall totals...my preferred solution.

The GFS seems overdone and too far south on the accumulations in Iowa and Illinois.

I'll be keeping tabs in the latest trends and will have more for you later. Meantime, enjoy today. Roll weather...TS
