WHITE GOLD FOR SOME...

A strong winter storm will move through the Midwest and bring heavy snow for parts of Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Snow will move in Saturday night and continue into Sunday afternoon.

As the storm cuts through central Iowa and northern Illinois, warmer air will get pulled in on the southern side (generally south of Highway 20). This will lead to a wintry mix and/or plain rain falling in these areas. You can see the difference between the snow and where a mix/rain will be with the Winter Storm Warnings (pink) and Winter Weather Advisories (purple) have been posted:

The heaviest snow will come in the late morning/early afternoon hours of Sunday.

There are some minor differences among the models in terms of the exact track and exact totals, but some pretty good consistency now. Southern Minnesota, northern Iowa and parts of central/southern Wisconsin are under the gun for heavy snow.

Minor accumulation down to the south with little to no ice accumulation expected in parts of Iowa and Illinois. Here's a look at the temperatures Sunday afternoon to show the divide:
