ON THE UP AND UP FOR NOW...

Mild air has moved into place for the weekend. Temperatures Saturday afternoon finally got above freezing as we got rid of the arctic air. It was 20 to 30 degrees warmer than Friday!

Temperatures will be similar Sunday with more clouds in place...

Temperatures will still be near and above normal Monday ahead of a storm system. This storm has been trending further north and most of my local area will be in a wintry mix and even plain old rain on Monday.

Right now snow looks most likely in northeast Iowa, southern Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Here's a look at the snowfall totals on the European model:

The GFS:

NAM:

Colder air does move in behind this system and will send temperatures back down below freezing and below normal for Tuesday through Thursday. The good news is the cold doesn't last long and temperatures likely start to warm back up for the end of the week/into next weekend. The Climate Prediction Center is projecting above normal temperatures toward the end of February.

Plenty of ups and downs in the future, but it does look like more ups than downs right now! RK
