FROSTY FOR NOW....

UPDATE: Clouds have won out overnight and into Monday morning. Temperatures will still be in the 30s to around 40 degrees Monday morning. There will be another chance for frost Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Monday will be yet another chilly day with temperatures running 10 to 20 degrees below normal. Temperatures will struggle to climb, even under mostly sunny skies:

Then we'll have one more chance for frost (and hopefully the last of the season!) Monday night into Tuesday morning:

We start to take off thereafter. We kick the cold out to where it belongs and temperatures start to climb back to near normal as we head into the later part of next week. Check out the anomalies in the upper levels of the atmosphere for Monday:

Much better! Temperatures running above normal with the flow coming in out of the south. So check out the warm up here with forecast for Cedar Rapids:

Along with the warmth will come more moisture, which is not surprising. We'll likely start to see an active pattern pick up once again with showers and thunderstorms as we get into the middle to end of May. Here's a look at the precipitation forecast from the Weather Prediction Center for May 11 to 18:

So we'll be getting back into the warmth but also the rain... here comes spring!
