FROM STORMS TO SUN....

Strong to severe thunderstorms moved across the state of Iowa and brought hail, wind and heavy rain. There have been reports of flash flooding in parts of Cedar Rapids and at the TV station we picked up two and a half inches of rain!

Large hail fell near Waterloo, La Porte City and Traer and even led to damage. Some close to baseball size... yikes! There were over 100 reports of hail in the Midwest Saturday night:

On top of that... there was a lot of rain in just a few hours time. Some areas received a months worth of rain just tonight...

Much of the Midwest is headed toward a break from the rain for a few days and will be met with sunshine for Easter. Temperatures won't be as warm as Saturday but still... eggcelent for Easter!

Most of the Midwest will remain dry Sunday and Monday. The next storm arrives Tuesday and will bring the chance for another round of showers and thunderstorms. Storms may once again pose a severe risk, but it's a little too soon for details. Here's the projected surface pattern Tuesday evening:

The pattern will remain fairly active through the week with another storm moving through Wednesday night. There after is when we're looking for a pattern change. The SOI stayed at -34 once again Saturday.

With the low values, we will be seeing some cooler air make it into the Midwest by the end of this upcoming week. Temperatures will be near and below normal at this time. Here's the meteogram for Cedar Rapids as an example:

For now we're getting a break from the storms and I'm ready for some egggggceptional Easter weather!
