A weather system ejecting out of the Rockies continues to show a slight deepening trend. That's allowed better lift and moisture to enter the storm. It's also enabled moisture to reach further to the northwest. As I indicated was likely yesterday, the NWS has acknowledged the changes and issued a Winter Weather Advisory from late evening through Sunday morning.
Snow should develop late evening in the SW portions of my area and spread NW to encompass the rest of the region by Midnight. It will end Sunday morning in the south and exits the north by early afternoon. Some additional snow showers are possible again towards evening as a strong cold front follows the system.
As it stands now, most guidance indicates amounts of 2--3 inches for much of the region. There may be some banding with local amounts of up to 4 inches. Travel will become slick later tonight and Sunday morning. Here's what models are suggesting for total accumulations.

Behind the system, gusty winds and much colder conditions will move into the region Sunday night and Monday. With snow on the ground, highs Monday will hold in the low to mid 20s. Wind chills early in the day Monday are shown in the single digits.
