The heat started to build on Saturday and temperatures rose to near 90 and heat indices near 100. Storms developed on the edge of the heat in the late afternoon and started to move through the region overnight. The heat builds even more Sunday:

Humidity will be very high - in the very gross category:

Heat index values will be near and above 100 as a result of the combination of thot temperatures and high humidity:

There will be additional storms Sunday on the edge of the heat. There's uncertainty on exactly where storms go, but wherever they do form they could be strong with strong winds and hail:

Rinse and repeat on Monday with temperatures back in the 90s:

Heat index values of 100-105 possible:

That heat and humidity leads to a lot of instability and once again there's a risk for severe weather:

Storms will be possible in the afternoon, but once again there's also uncertainty in where exactly the storms develop. Here's one depiction:

Strong winds will be the primary threat with these storms.

The heat will be knocked back behind these storms Tuesday into the middle of the week.
