THE VARIETY PACKAGE....
Saturday's weather will have everything but the kitchen sink thrown in as a powerful late winter storm roars across the Midwest. Much of my area will be fortunate to escape the worst of the wintry side of the system but even so there will be problems. One of the striking aspects of this system is the strength. You can watch below a deep closed 500mb circulation roll out of the southwest on its way to the Great Lakes where it deepens to a pressure of 516mb. A very compact and

CLOSE BUT NO CIGAR....
The next winter storm is in the slot ready to make a move on the Midwest this weekend. Finally, models are coming together on a common solution as to where the storm will track and the sensible weather that will impact the region. Since the storm track holds the key to this entire forecast, I'll start showing the projected positions of Saturday's surface low on our 3 major models. Some additional reports from around the Midwest. As of Wednesday morning, 57% of th

School is once again cancelled, Eden could dig villages in the snow drifts, and we keep losing the dog who buries himself in the white gold. Actually Eden who loves snow as much as her dad (and we know how much Terry digs his white gold) is thrilled to have such a beautiful snowy day to celebrate her 15th year. There have

Our latest batch of snow and winter weather is in the process of pushing out of the region early Wednesday. With our recent flaky addition, the seasonal snow total in Cedar Rapids is now on its way to 50". If and when we make it, 2018/19 will go into the books as the 10th snowiest on record. The all-time mark as you can see is 62.4" set in the 1959/60 season. With roughly a month to go in winter, there's no sign that the active pattern that's produced more than 40" of snow in
