RIDDLE ME THIS KIDDO....

Every day the weather is a riddle. Just ask my kid. She's been confined to a walker thanks to recent leg surgery. Officially she's a couch potato and takes her boredom out on me by asking weather riddles. After about 10 of these groaners I told her to put a list together and I would share them with my weatherheads. Here's what she came up with.

What did the tornado say to the sports car? (Want to go for a spin!)

What's a tornado's favorite game? (Twister!)

What happens when it rains cats and dogs? (You might step in a poodle!)

Is it raining cats and dogs? (It's okay, as long as it doesn't rein-deer!)

What bow can't be tied? (A rainbow!)

Why is it cold on Christmas? (Because it's in Decembrrrr!)

What did the lightning bolt say to the other lightning bolt? (You're shocking!)

What happens when fog lifts in southern California? (UCLA!)

What type of lightning likes to play sports? (Ball lightning!)

What do teddy bears do when it rains? (They get wet!)

What did the hurricane say to the other hurricane? (I have my eye on you!)

What goes up when the rain comes down? (An umbrella!)

When does it rain money? (When there's change in the weather!)

What's the difference between a horse and the weather? (One is reined up and the other rains down!)

Why did the woman go outdoors with her purse open? (Because she expected some change in the weather!)

What do you call it when it rains chickens and ducks? (Foul weather!)

What does a cloud wear under her raincoat? (Thunderwear!)

Why is Britain the wettest country? (Because royalty has reigned there for years!)

What do you call a grizzly bear caught in the rain? (A drizzly bear!)

Knock Knock! Who's there? Lettuce. Lettuce who? Lettuce in, it's freezing outside.

I also get cartoons sent to me on a regular basis. I have a folder full of some pretty good ones. Here's a few that might bring a smile to your face.

Well, that takes us to St. Patrick's weekend. If you'll be at a parade, eating corned beef and cabbage, or slurping a green beverage, you'll need a warm coat if you're doing it outside. The GFS shows this for highs on Saturday.

That's a far cry from last year when the high in Cedar Rapids was 58. But, considering the time of year it's not surprising to see such a contrast. Here's some of the extremes we've had over the years in the Quad Cities and Dubuque.

In Dubuque the coldest low was -3 and the warmest high 81. The range in the Quad Cities is pretty similar at 0 and 82.

The other issue this weekend will be the potential for some mixed precipitation Friday night and early Saturday. At this point the majority of it looks to fall as rain. The high-res 3k NAM shows this for total amounts ending early St Patrick's day.

Very little snow is indicated with temperatures aloft just above freezing for most of the event.
