HUNTING FOR EGGS... AND SPRING!

It's not just Easter weekend, but the beginning of April... and spring is nowhere to be found. The pattern doesn't seem to break. Temperatures try to warm up but another system sweeps in and knocks us back down. The next storm will pass through Saturday morning.

Last week's storm was much further south and stronger. The low pressure system moves near and north of the Iowa border and will lead to light rain shows through Iowa and Illinois with snow in Minnesota and Wisconsin where Winter Storm Warnings are in place.

Down to the south rainfall amounts will be very light.

Precipitation moves out early Saturday and colder air will rush in and winds will pick up. Temperatures will fall through the afternoon...

And temperatures will continue to tumble into Sunday morning. Temperatures will be 10 to 20 degrees below normal across the Midwest.

In fact, temperatures will be within a couple of degrees of record low temperatures for the morning of April first! It doesn't much warmer for Easter Sunday.

Temperatures remain below normal through next week and into the start of the second week of April with some warming by the end. We've had some glimpses of spring this year... like back in February when temperatures were in the 60s. But now we will go the entire month of March without hitting 60. The last time that happened was in 2013.

Additionally, this is the time of year we start to see 70 degree days. But it doesn't look like there will be any 70s in the near future. The latest first 70 degree day (in a calendar year) in Cedar Rapids was May 6th of 1979.

Hopefully we don't have to wait that long....
