WIND, RECORDS, STORMS, SNOW... OH MY!

NOW MORE THAN EVER I NEED YOUR HELP WITH OPERATING EXPENSES

THE FUTURE OF THE SITE DEPENDS ON YOU.

Hi everyone, as you know, TSwails.com is a no-pay site; existing on voluntary subscriptions or personal donations. If you find value in the site, I'm asking kindly that you make the donation you feel is worthy. I'm suggesting $20.00, roughly a nickel a day. Less than 5% of my readers donate, so your gift is not only appreciated, it helps immensely. Your contribution, whatever you can swing, supports the content, infrastructure, and operational costs. Thanks for anything you can do.

WIND, RECORDS, STORMS, SNOW... OH MY!

A strong early spring storm will bring quite the wild start to the week across the Midwest. First and foremost, Red Flag Warnings go into effect on Monday due to low humidity and strong winds, which will lead to a high wild fire danger:

Winds will increase out of the south with some gusts up to 40 mph!

That will help send temperatures into the 60s and even 70s - likely breaking records for February 26th, many of which were set in 1896!

Temperatures on Tuesday will be back in the 60s, (maybe the 70s southeast) but colder air will be quickly moving in behind our storm system late in the day:

With the clash of the warm and the cold air, it's no surprise there's a potential for strong storms. There could be some rumbles of thunder in eastern Iowa, with the possibility of a strong storm or two. The chances for stronger to perhaps even severe storms, is a bit higher in Illinois as the front's arrival is slightly later: Here's the SPC slight risk outlook Tuesday.

Strong winds, hail and a few tornadoes are possible. It depends on the moisture available and timing of the front. The sooner the front passes, the less the storm chances. There will be the potential for a transition to a wintry mix of rain to snow showers late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Some places could get a dusting in the northwest, most likely grassy/elevated areas:

Temperatures will be 30-40 degrees colder by Wednesday afternoon:

Don't put the winter coats away just yet! On the other hand, you can take them off just as quickly as even warmer air is possible next weekend.

A message from Terry: P.S. With my recent health issues, I very much need to reach my fund-raising goals, but we are getting close. To keep things as they are, I'm in humble need of your donation to the site more than ever. If you use it and find value in it, please consider a contribution. Thanks to you who have already helped the cause!
