WHAT'S IT GONNA BE BOY, YES OR NO...
Well, the tide (as expected) has turned allowing seasonally cold air to flood the beaches (cornfields) of the Midwest. This is actually a pretty good pop of cold air but the fact the sun is strong and the days have been getting longer the past three months will play in our favor. The same air mass that would have held us well below freezing in January will now lack the same capacity and we'll manage to stay about 20 degrees warmer. Even so, it will be plenty crisp with highs

SPRING BOUNCE, WITH A BREEZE...
A deep low pressure passing along the Canadian border put a real bounce in our temperatures Monday. Highs west of the Mississippi reached into the 70s thanks to a south wind that gusted more than 40 mph. These were readings around 3:00 PM. Check out the 80s that soared into WC Minnesota! This was a dramatic change from Sunday with temperatures as much as 25 degrees warmer than 24 hours earlier. I do see an abrupt end to this spring party and it's readily apparent on the depar

WOULDN'T BE SO BAD WITHOUT THE WIND....
The sun finally returned on Sunday but it came with very strong winds throughout the day. The blustery conditions will persist into the new week In fact, Red Flag Warnings have been posted for a big chunk of the western U.S. The combination of dry air, warm temperatures, and strong winds increases the fire danger in these areas for Monday. Here's a look at the latest from the National Weather Service: Winds will be increasing through the morning and gusts will be around 35-5

THE ROLLERCOASTER RIDE CONTINUES...
Saturday was yet another gloomy day, which started with more rain -- And we've all just been waiting for the clouds to clear. Well, SUNday will live up to it's name! Temperatures won't be terribly mild (I think a few degrees warmer than what this model is showing) and it will be a bit breezy, but at least we'll have the sun! Winds will be out of the northwest Sunday, but switch out of out the south on Monday. That, combined with plenty of sunshine, will send temperatures soar

A WILD HORSE TO RIDE...
For me personally, the next few weeks are the hardest of the year. I'm tired of cold crappy weather and I just want it to be nice. However, as we all know it's a process. You get a couple of good days and then bang, its back to cold. Even worse, when the cold sneaks in (and it will from time to time), it's generally not cold enough for snow (so I have no use for it). It's those raw miserable days with wind and slate grey skies that I despise. Usually the ups and downs last mu
