FINALLY... SOME SNOW!

I rushed to the window this morning hoping to see at least a little bit of snow on the ground. It's amazing how it's transformed outside with just a little bit of the white stuff (still an novelty to this Florida native).

Here are the latest snowfall reports as of 9 AM:

Most of the snow has fallen near and south of Highway 30 in my local area, as expected, with the higher amounts south of I-80. That's where the NWS eventually placed a Winter Weather Advisory (purple) through Iowa and Illinois.

The Advisories are in effect until 6 pm as a second wave moves in and produces another round of snow, mainly south of I-80.

Here's the latest HRRR showing additional snowfall through tonight:

Some spots could pick up an additional inch or two!

We're still getting reports in, but so far in Cedar Rapids there's been around 0.6" of snow and in Marion (NE side of town) 1.2". This is the first measurable snow we've had in two weeks (since January 25th!). If Cedar Rapids manages to pick up an inch, it'll be the first time we've had an inch of snow in a single day since December 17th.

Needless to say.. it's been a while.
