A MAY CHILL....

Friday was certainty a shock to the system and had many people in the Upper Midwest grabbing jackets for the first time in about two weeks. Temperatures have been above normal for about two weeks and primarily in the 70s and 80s.

Temperatures have been above normal all across the Midwest with the exception of part of the UP. That area above in pink and dark red is showing high temperatures 10 to 12 degrees above normal for the first ten days of May. And the Friday happened...

A warm front sat just south of Iowa and two thirds of the country was in the 80s and 90s. To the north of that front was a stout east wind off the Great Lakes. That kept the front from moving much and kept temperatures even cooler in the 40s, 50s and 60s. Ouch!

Andddd it's going to be cool again Saturday.

On top of the chill there will be some scattered showers and thunderstorms.

There could be round 1 to 2 inches of rain picked up in parts of the Upper Midwest - much needed rain for many of us! The rain moves out early Sunday and Mother's Day will be mostly dry and warmer.

And then we're back into the 70s and 80s by Monday.

The pattern stays active with periodic chances for showers and thunderstorms during the beginning of next week. Typical spring pattern.. just gotta get through this May chill!
