WE'RE HAVING A JUNKFEST!

Frustration ruled the day. We are definitely experiencing chaser angst. There is no question this is a tough time for those who love to chase. In fact, 2018 has had the lowest number of EF-3 tornadoes (and greater) since 2006 at this point in the season.

Even the best veteran chasers have been skunked by Mother Nature. So while the parameters of the day start out looking promising, the atmosphere continues to underperform apart from leaving us a mess called a “Junkfest.” That unofficial term means a lot of un-organized storms with little to no severe weather potential. In other words, run of the mill storms.

So bottom line. The deck was stacked against us from the onset. However that does not mean we will not continue to persevere. Chasing is a crap shoot. You know that from the get go. But when you hit the jackpot, all the hours spent waiting, chasing blue sky, and spent supercells is worth it.

So today we had to raise the white flag. We surrendered to Mother Nature’s fickle and unwanted resolve to do what we wanted. Too much warm air aloft produced a cap that wouldn’t break. Game, set, match But while we lost the battle, we haven’t lost the war. Tomorrow is another day and we’ll be ready to hunt. It’s amazing the amount of hope a new day brings. As the saying goes, if you don’t play you can’t win. Wednesday we play again. Roll weather…
