HIGH IMPACT WEATHER.....

Another winter storm will bring snow back to parts of the region Sunday evening. This time around the greatest impacts will be near and north of HWY 20 where winter storm warnings are in effect for 4-6" of snow. Further south 1-4" totals are projected to about I-80. This area could also see a mix of sleet, freezing rain or freezing drizzle. Travel will become hazardous Sunday night. You can see the NWS expected snow totals below.

The 18Z GFS (just in) has this for snowfall.

The 12Z EURO had this.

The regional EURO perspective.

Here's where warnings and advisories are in effect in my area.

Behind the system extreme cold arrives Monday night and lasts through Friday morning. The latest GFS has this for lows Wednesday morning. -32 here in Cedar Rapids which would be an all-time record low!

Highs on Wednesday are projected around 20 below.

Wind chills in some of my northern counties are shown at -65.

The NWS shows this for wind chills. Personally I think a compromise between the NWS and the GFS seems reasonable. That would mean chills of 50-55 below.

Needless to say some high impact weather is on the way. The next 6 days are gonna be rough! Roll weather...TS
