A LITTLE BIT OF SNOW AND A LOT OF WATER...

Some of us are waking up to a little bit of snow this morning in Iowa and Illinois. A clipper moved through Saturday night and dropped a few inches from Cedar Rapids down to the Quad Cities.

Unfortunately this comes right after we just got rid of all of the snow... but luckily a lot of it should melt with sunshine and temperatures above freezing today.

The issue a lot of the Midwest is still facing, however, is flooding. The hardest hit areas are in Nebraska. The Missouri River crested this morning FOUR FEET over the old record in Plattsmouth.

That's leading to surreal scenes like this one over Omaha...

Unreal... scenes from 1993 or 2008. People have had to evacuate. Even the National Weather Service had to leave their office. 

Then to the east is the Cedar River in Cedar Rapids, which will crest in major flood stage tonight into Monday.

This won't be even a top 10 crest and the impacts will be fairly minimal. Parks and some low lying roads will experience flooding until the water drops below 12 feet. 

Then further to the east the Rock River in Moline is cresting just shy of it's record.

The good news is that there is little to no precipitation expected over the next five days in the spots that need to dry out.

It will take a while for the waters to drop everywhere. And of course we're continuing to watch for the potential of even more flooding as we head through the spring with the snowpack up north.
