A MILD EASTER...

It was a beautiful day for Easter egg hunts and brunches alike. There was plenty of sunshine, a bit of a breezy and temperatures in the 80s!

The high temperature of 84 degrees in Cedar Rapids is the second warmest Easter on record. The warmest I could find was April 21, 1925 which had a high of 87 degrees for egg hunts!

Now it's not going to be as warm for the rest of the week... here's the long range European model for the next 10 days for Cedar Rapids:

Temperatures Monday will be knocked back due to clouds and scattered showers and thunderstorms.

A few storms may produce heavy downpours and some small hail. Nothing too crazy, just your run of the mill spring storms as a cold front sweeps through. Behind the front temperatures will get knocked back a little more.

Tuesday afternoon's highs will be around 20 degrees cooler than Sunday!

Temperatures in general will be near and above normal for the rest of the week. High pressure will be in control and it will be dry through Friday. The next chance for rain comes over the weekend. Here's the seven day precipitation totals from the GFS:

Zoomed in:

One thing we'll have to watch is for heavy rain falling near the Mississippi, which could lead to additional rises.

Otherwise... spring has sprung!
