A "COOLER" WEEK AHEAD...
Behind Saturday's cold front there's been some more comfortable air in place. This is after round of severe weather in the region and heavy rain in spots. A lot of the heavy rain fell north of my local area:
Sunday evening you can see all of the heat pushed off to the south and east:
The last week wasn't blazing hot in the Upper Midwest (as most of the rest of the country was boiling) but temperatures were running above normal:
Temperatures will be held back even more on Monday, running five degrees or so below normal:
A storm system will be passing south of Iowa and bring a slight chance for a shower or storm, but the higher chances will likely be in Missouri and southern Illinois:
The boundary will stall out for a few days and lead to the potential for additional showers and storms on Tuesday and Wednesday but chances are overall low. While we remain north of the boundary our temperatures will remain near/below normal. Highs on Tuesday:
And Wednesday:
In the upper levels there will be an area of low pressure in place that will keep swirling in cooler air for the remainder of the week:
It does appear the heat comes back in early August:
Enjoy the break while it lasts!
