CHANGE IS IN THE AIR...

Right now summer is in the air. It's been hot and humid for several days and that will continue Sunday. Temperatures will rise toward 90 under sunny skies:

Humidity will once again be high and it will be sticky and uncomfortable:

That will create heat index values near 100 degrees:

Some isolated showers and storms are possible once again Sunday:

Rain should remain isolated due to the hot air in the upper levels of the atmosphere, creating a cap:

The hot air suppresses thunderstorm activity, as clouds need cooler air to grow. The cap will be weaker overnight and there may be a few showers and storms into early Monday morning:

The sun will be back out and Monday will be hot with highs in the 80s once again:

A cold front will push through Monday night and as the cap strengthens again during the day, rain may be limited in Iowa and Illinois:

Behind that front there will be a big change in the air with temperatures in the 70s on Tuesday!

And you can see the flip in the upper levels as the hot air fades away:

Relief from the heat is on the way!
