COLD LIKE AN ICEBERG...

I NEED YOUR HELP TO MEET OPERATING EXPENSES

THE FUTURE OF THE SITE DEPENDS ON YOU.

Hi everyone, as you know, TSwails.com is a no-pay site; existing on voluntary subscriptions or personal donations. If you find value in the site, I'm asking kindly that you make the donation you feel is worthy. I'm suggesting $20.00, roughly a nickel a day. Less than 5% of my readers donate, so your gift is not only appreciated, it helps immensely. Your contribution, whatever you can swing, supports the content, infrastructure, and operational costs. Thanks for anything you can do!

COLD LIKE AN ICEBERG...

Nothing but blue skies overhead this afternoon. Not a snowflake to be found. Nice as it looks, a step out the door reveals a mean brand of cold that continues to produce temperatures below zero at this hour. That's after overnight lows that went down to 19 below in Cedar Rapids. That's what happens after the snowiest week in history.

This dangerous brand of wind driven cold will grip the area another 48 hours. Wind chill warnings will be in effect until noon Tuesday with chills 30-40 below.

Here's a timeline on the cold from the NWS through Wednesday

Remember, pets can be impacted by cold too. Don't leave them outside for long periods. This is my dog Nimbus. He loves the snow, but even he is ready to come in after 10–15 minutes. (I didn't raise a dumb dog!)

Here's tonight's projected lows on the GFS

The associated wind chills....brrr

Now the good news. This is the 500mb jet Sunday. Look at that zonal flow. The westerly flow will sweep the Arctic air out of the Midwest. Next week should see highs above freezing and perhaps some RAIN! Ugh

I'll have much more on the warming trend in coming posts. Until then, hurry up and shiver! Roll weather...TS
