FALL IS M.I.A...

September 1 marked the beginning of meteorological fall and the Autumnal Equinox is quickly approaching on the 22nd. However, there's not been much fall around here lately.

Temperatures have run above normal for the next week:

There's not much sign of fall weather as temperatures continue above normal and humidity remains high. Temperatures will be in the 80s once again Sunday:

Humidity will remain high with dew points in the upper 60s, similar to Saturday. That may lead to a few sprinkles or showers.

This moisture stems from the remnants of Hurricane Francine:

The warmth is due in part to a big high pressure system in the upper levels:

That will keep temperatures running 5 to 10 degrees above normal over the next week or so. Here's the temperature trend for the Quad Cities:

A sign of the warmth holding is the lack of storm systems moving through and lack of rain over the next 5-6 days:

For now Fall is M.I.A.
