We've got another quiet day to finish the weekend before our next storm arrives. There will be plenty of sunshine Sunday with mild temperatures returning.

A strong storm will move into the region Sunday night into Monday. Prior to arriving in Iowa and Illinois, there will be strong to severe storms in the south:

There's the potential for an isolated strong storm or two in the local area but chances are rather low.

The storm will move in, pulling in a ton of Gulf of Mexico moisture. Some models are showing the moisture levels 400% of normal for this time of year:

This indicates a heavy rain potential as the system barrells through:

The highest chances for rain will be after midnight through midday Monday:

Because of the proximity of the low pressure system and strong dynamics, some thunderstorms are certainty possible. That could lead to some even heavier rainfall totals in spots.

Both are similar - showing the potential for up to two inches of rain. With the recent active pattern, grounds are saturated, and some flooding/flash flooding is possible. Additionally, there will be strong winds from the southeast through the day Monday:

One positive of the storm is the warmth it generates, highs Sunday will range from the mid 40s north to the mid 50s south. Monday should be even warmer despite the rain with highs in the 50s in most locations.
