ICE AND THEN NICE....
Saturday morning and Saturday afternoon were two different worlds. The day started with a little clipper moving through that produced sleet and freezing rain. This led to a mess on some of the roads, particularly Highway 151 in Dubuque. Here's a look at the ice in Cedar Rapids via Mike Graber:
Then.... about 6/7 hours later this is what it looked like outside (photo also from Mike Graber):
And check out that temperature! We went from starting off in the 20s with ice and finished with sunshine and temperatures in the 50s.
Now Sunday won't be quite as nice because of some cooler air and wind in the afternoon:
But we bounce right back up to the 50s on Monday:
In face through the week temperatures are going to remain near and above normal. We have a ridge in the upper levels of the atmosphere that'll keep temps on the mild side:
The flow will also be out of the northwest which will also keep things dry... as it's been over the last several weeks. Little to no precipitation is expected through Friday:
We'll be keeping an eye on a storm system and colder air moving in sometime next weekend that could produce rain, snow, and precipitation in between:
A little too soon for details on that and something to watch for timing and location!
