IN THE DEEP FREEZE...

Arctic air has been pouring into the Midwest and leading to a bitter chill. Temperatures are already near and below zero as of 9 pm Saturday and will continue to drop:

This air can be traced back to Siberia... to the arctic circle. And is now settling into the Midwest, leading to temperatures being held near zero for several days.

Temperatures will be down below zero on Sunday morning:

On top of that, there will be bitter chills in the morning as Cold Weather Advisories are in effect:

Despite the sunshine it will be a very cold day with temperatures struggling to rise above zero:

Wind chills stay below zero through the day and temperatures drop back below zero by Monday morning:

Temperatures will stay in the single digits as a strong, arctic high pressure system settles in right overhead on Tuesday:

Temperatures drop even further into Tuesday morning as a result:

Wind chills will be bitter once again:

ree

The arctic air will retreat and temperatures will begin to moderate by Wednesday afternoon.
