STILL IN NEED OF WATER...

NOW MORE THAN EVER I NEED YOUR HELP WITH OPERATING EXPENSES

THE FUTURE OF THE SITE DEPENDS ON YOU.

Hi everyone, as you know, TSwails.com is a no-pay site; existing on voluntary subscriptions or personal donations. If you find value in the site, I'm asking kindly that you make the donation you feel is worthy. I'm suggesting $20.00, roughly a nickel a day. Less than 5% of my readers donate, so your gift is not only appreciated, it helps immensely. Your contribution, whatever you can swing, supports the content, infrastructure, and operational costs. Thanks for anything you can do.

STILL IN NEED OF WATER...

Despite records amount of snow, a gradual melt, and severe thunderstorms... we are still in drought. This issue is especially prevalent in Iowa. Here's the latest Drought Monitor for the region:

And zoomed in on Iowa:

All of the 20-28 inches of snow we had on the ground melted and released 2-3" of water. Now the ground is bare with the exception of some piles and drifts left over:

Because it was mild in much of the fall and December, the ground was able to take in some water, but we still have a ways to go to solve the longest drought Iowa has been in since 1954!

There is the potential for some precipitation this week, late Wednesday into Thursday. There could be rain and/or snow in the region:

This also may trigger a colder pattern as we head into the middle of February. The Climate Prediction Center shows this trend:

There's still uncertainty on how cold it gets or how long it stays cold...
