A TASTE OF WINTER....
Temperatures started off Friday morning near records across the Midwest and many areas saw their first snow!
In my local area temperatures were down in the teens with wind chills in the single digits. Dubuque, Iowa busted their record low of 14 (set in 1973) by two degrees.
Temperatures in the afternoon were held down to near and below freezing in much of the Midwest. Impressive for November 10th - especially in areas that don't have snow on the ground!
These are temperatures more typical of early December rather than early November! In the short term here temperatures are going to gradually warm up, especially by next week. A ridge is going to start to strengthen over the central U.S.
Temperatures have been below normal for quite some time (especially in the afternoons) and will likely be above normal by the middle of next week. Before we get there, in my local area (and much of the Upper Midwest) high temperatures will have been below normal for 18 straight days!
The last time we've had a stretch of below normal temps for this long was back in the summer of 2015 - from June 23rd to July 11! Temperatures will likely go above normal by Wednesday, here's the projected highs:
Still some chilly weather around this weekend. Just a teaser for what's to come in the coming months.
