STRONG WINTER STORM TO IMPACT THE CENTRAL MIDWEST...

As you can see below, much of the central Midwest is in for a snowy time starting Thursday night into Friday. These are the odds of 2 or more inches of snow. A lot of real estate getting white.

Some of the heaviest snow is expected from far eastern Iowa into northern Illinois, including Chicago. Here you can see the 6" odds. These are too low in my opinion.

As it stands late Wednesday night, winter storm watches and winter weather advisories are widespread. As new data arrives these will be re-adjusted and in some cases replaced with warnings by local NWS offices. The majority of the snow falls Thursday night and Friday from this particular storm. More is possible in spots Saturday. The core of my area has these advisories in place as I post this.

This is the most recent snowfall forecast from the NWS in the Quad Cities.

The NWS in Des Moines shows this.

Chicago has this.

Milwaukee.

Lincoln/Springfield.

La Crosse.

I will put up the latest model forecasts but keep in mind these are from Thursday night. There are still some discrepancies. The NAM and EURO are noticeably further north with the heavy snow band. Newer data will be available by daybreak but I do need to sleep sometime. Wish I didn't. Here's the latest 6Z NAM.

The EURO.

The EURO regional perspective.

The 0Z GFS.

Big day coming up so until next time, roll weather....TS
