IT KEEPS ON FALLING...

The rain just keeps on falling. The ground is so saturated, the rivers are high... and it doesn't take much for flooding to happen. Take Friday night into Saturday as an example.

A couple of inches of rain fell near and south of I-80 and that led to rises on the Iowa River. Flooding happened around Johnson county as the Iowa River spilled out of its banks.

Check out that spike! This crest, of 23.23 feet is the highest since 2014 and the 7th highest on record in Iowa City. Ditches filled with water and parks near the river went underwater. Here's a look at Crandic Park from Saturday morning:

Water covered the parking lot and was over the benches under the pavilion. Some low lying streets flooded around Iowa City. Highway 6 flooded near West Liberty and parts of I-80 were closed due to flooding around West Branch. Now water is receding but more rain is on the way.

Rivers across the area are expected to continue to rise as the water is already high. These dots are showing the expected flood stage over the next few days.

Lots of reds and purples... meaning moderate and major flooding expected, respectively. These forecasts will likely change depending on how much rain falls and exactly where.

There will be multiple rounds of rain and heavy rain at times through Thursday of the upcoming week. Heavy rain continues to be a concern as moisture levels will be high. In fact, around 200-300% higher than normal!

That's going to translate to a widespread 2-4 inches of rain with locally higher amounts. Here's the GFS and Euro rainfall forecasts through Thursday:
