HIGH PRESSURE DOMINATES...

It was feast or famine once again as a line of storms developed Saturday morning in parts of Iowa and Illinois.

Some of us had a little rain, some had none, some had rain for several hours. A welcomed sight for a dry Midwest! There will be another chance for rain late Sunday night as a cold front comes through. Ahead of the front it will be a warm and muggy day...

Then the cold front will arrive and lead to scattered showers and storms overnight and into Monday morning - another chance for some of us to get some water on our lawns and crops!

As Terry mentioned in his last post, rainfall totals will likely be pretty meager with this system. Where thunderstorms develop there could be some locally higher amounts - reflected pretty well in the HRRR output -

The location of the higher amounts may not be exact, but the idea is right. Behind the rain the temperatures and humidity will drop once again and it will be a pleasant start to next week... Temperatures will be pretty much near normal (average high temperatures this time of year are in the low 80s) for this time of year.

There's little fluctuation in temperature over the next week or so. That's because high pressure will once again be in control. Dry, calm weather will be the name of the game.

Unfortunately there will not be much in the way of rainfall other than some isolated storms over the next week.

We'll hope for more rain in August!
