It's going to be a mild start to the week, but the end will be quite different. April is usually an active month. It can be filled with a lot of rain, sometimes snow, warmth and even cold. As we head toward the middle of the month (really starting in the next few days) cooler weather will likely take over. Here's the outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for April 11-15:

Let's talk about how we get to those dark blues.. First off, average high temperatures this time of year are in the upper 50s to low 60s. Monday will be near and above normal temperature wise as a system approaches the area:

There will be some scattered showers and thunderstorms as a warm front lifts north across the area.

The warm front will sit to the north of the area and it will get even warmer Tuesday.

A cold front then comes through the area Wednesday, bringing more rain...

And colder air will follow for the remainder of the week. Here's a look at the temperatures for the next ten days for Cedar Rapids:

And the Quad Cities:

There will be quite a stark contrast in temperatures from the beginning of the week to the end...
