RELIEF ON THE WAY...
The heat has been on this weekend and the sun has been out in full force. Sunday was toasty with temperatures around 90 in the afternoon:
Dew points are up in the 70s - making it super uncomfortable - and creating heat index values near 100. A cold front lingering on the northern border of Iowa will lead to a few isolated storms overnight into Monday morning:
After any lingering rain or clouds in the morning we'll have sunny skies and hot, humid conditions for the afternoon:
Humidity will once again be high leading to heat index values near 100:
As the front moves through there will be showers and storms Monday night into early Tuesday. Some storms may be strong with damaging winds and hail:
However, there's uncertainty on how far south the storms get. The higher chance for storms will be to the northeast of Iowa, due to the hot air in the upper levels. However, some storms may form further south that this into early Tuesday:
Behind the rain the heat will scoot away and it will feel much more comfortable Tuesday:
And Wednesday:
Dew points will go from the mid 70s to the low 60s and it will feel much nicer outside.
Just one more day of heat to get through before a stretch of 70s!
